Heavy rain to continue till July 8: Maharashtra on high alert, says CM Fadnavis | Monsoon

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday (July 6, 2026) warned of a possible cloudburst-like spell in Nashik on Tuesday (July 7, 2026), and said that the State machinery has been put on high alert as heavy rains are expected to continue until July 8. 

Addressing a press conference after reviewing the flood situation at the State disaster management control room, the Chief Minister urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and stay off the roads, as authorities worked to manage landslips, swollen rivers, and rescue operations.

The State Disaster Management Authority on Monday (July 6, 2026) advised private offices in Mumbai to allow employees to work from home and announced a half-day for non-essential and semi-government offices in view of the heavy rains, officials said.

Earier in the day, the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly was adjourned for the day following forecasts of heavy rain and strong winds in Mumbai and adjoining regions. The Chief Minister said a detailed statement on the rain-related incidents, the government’s response, preventive measures and preparedness would be made in the House on Tuesday (July 7, 2026).
