New Delhi: Sourabh Chandrakar, an alleged accused in the Mahadev betting app case, has reportedly offered to cooperate with Indian investigative agencies and reveal details of the alleged betting network in exchange for witness protection for himself and his family, as per media reports.
Chandrakar, who is reportedly detained in Oman amid extradition proceedings, has allegedly raised concerns over his safety if brought to India. According to reports citing sources familiar with the proceedings, he has offered information about the wider network, including alleged intermediaries, financial transactions, overseas assets and purported political and bureaucratic connections.
Reports say Chandrakar is seeking comprehensive security measures before sharing the information. His reported demands include protection for his immediate family, secure detention, judicial oversight during questioning and preservation of electronic and documentary evidence.
The development could become significant for the ongoing Mahadev investigation if Chandrakar’s claims are formally recorded and independently verified. However, the allegations attributed to him and unnamed sources have not been judicially established and should not be treated as proven facts.
The Mahadev betting case involves allegations of illegal online betting, money laundering and the operation of betting panels across India and overseas. Chandrakar has been named among the accused in the investigation.
