“Former MP Urges UP Govt to Assist Farmers with Crop Damage”

Prayagraj, 20 March (HS): Former Member of Parliament Kunwar Revati Raman Singh has requested that the state government offer financial support to farmers by conducting a field study around the state since the Annadata is experiencing a double whammy due to the extreme inflation.

There has been a hailstorm with rain, as a result of which the farmers’ standing crops have been laying on the ground, as a result of which water is observed running on the farmer’s hard work day and night, and he will also suffer huge financial loss.

Aside from the farmers’ hard labour, how will the revenue lost on fertilisers and water irrigation be compensated Worst victims are those who planned their children’s marriages in the anticipation of receiving a good harvest; now they will be reeling under debt since farming does not provide much income and conserving money year after year is a Herculean task for poor farmers.

He stated that, even today, agriculture employs 80% of the population in Uttar Pradesh, and that the government should provide financial assistance to farmers since the country would not advance until farmers are happy.
