Delhi, 30 January (H.S): The city of Chandigarh is set to hold its mayoral polls on Tuesday, January 30 at 10 am.
This decision was made after the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered the Chandigarh administration to conduct the election on this date. The initial election, which was supposed to take place on January 18, was postponed due to the presiding officer’s illness. The BJP-ruled Chandigarh Municipal Corporation will be electing its new mayor, senior deputy mayor, and deputy mayor on this day.
However, there was high drama surrounding the postponement of the election as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress, who are fighting the polls together, expressed their anger and disappointment over the last-minute change in plans. Both parties criticized the BJP for this delay and registered their protest. With all eyes on the upcoming mayoral election, it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious and lead Chandigarh towards progress and development.
