Lucknow, 28 Jan (HS): The Yogi government, which is taking Uttar Pradesh towards new stages of development, has started a process of banning single-use plastic and its disposal which has become an example in the entire country. According to the vision of Chief Minister Yogi, along with bitumen, single use plastic waste is also being used on a large scale for the construction and strengthening of roads.
Due to this, the roads are constructed at low cost and remain situated in a very sustainable manner. Not only this, this process is also paving the way for single-use plastic waste to be disposed of properly without pollution.
In this way, this initiative of Yogi government is special in not one but many ways and this is the reason why this effort of Yogi government is being discussed in the country and the world. According to the data of the Public Works Department, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has constructed and strengthened roads in a total length of 813 km through this process. Overall, the new technology has helped in strengthening 466 roads and routes as plastic roads.
According to the report of World Bank Blogs, India is the leader in making roads from plastic. More than 2500 kilometers of roads here are made of plastic. This process of road construction is being used in 15 countries of the world including America. In this sense, construction of roads with plastic in total length of 813 km during the tenure of Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh shows that Uttar Pradesh is seen as the leading state of this process in India. Apart from plastic roads, the Yogi government also gives priority to promoting road connectivity in the state and developing new infrastructure for it.
According to the data of the Public Works Department, on an average one road is constructed every day and one bridge is constructed every three days in the state. Provisions of Rs 200 crore have been made for the removal of 567 black spots on the roads in the financial year 2023-24. The widening and strengthening process is being completed in the state at an average of 9 kilometers per day, while new roads are being constructed at the rate of 11 kilometers per day.
According to the data of the Public Works Department, a total of 27,397 km of rural roads have been constructed during the tenure of the Yogi government so far. Under the Chief Minister Samagra Gram Vikas Yojana, a total of 181 road construction works have been completed in villages and towns. According to the data received, so far in the year 2023-24, 44,382 km long roads have been made pothole free and the process of renovation of 26,976 km long roads has been completed. Apart from this, construction of 96 rail bridges including 224 long bridge connecting roads has been completed so far and traffic has also started on these.
