Shimla, 28 February (HS): After the Rajya Sabha elections, political activities have suddenly increased in Himachal. Early on Wednesday morning, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur along with the BJP legislature party met the Governor and demanded division of vote for the budget in the House.

After meeting the Governor, Jairam Thakur said that he has informed the Governor about the entire incident. The Leader of Opposition said that he had sought division of vote on the budget cut proposals in the Assembly on Tuesday, which was rejected twice by the Speaker. After this, when his MLAs went to meet the Speaker, an attempt was made to stop them by imposing marshals. Their MLAs were misbehaved.

Jai Ram Thakur said that we have many apprehensions about which we have informed the Governor. He said that BJP fears that the Speaker of the Assembly may suspend BJP MLAs from the House. Apart from this, the cross-voting MLAs of Congress have been given notice till 1:30 pm today under anti-defection law and their reply has been sought; efforts are being made to disqualify them also. Despite all this, the Congress government has come into minority and has lost its confidence. Today we have informed the Governor about this entire matter.

In the Rajya Sabha elections held on Tuesday, 6 Congress MLAs had cross-voted, due to which the contest was equal 34 – 34. BJP’s Harsh Mahajan won the Rajya Sabha elections through draw.

On the other hand, Congress has also started managing its MLAs. Karnataka Deputy Chief Ministers DK Shivakumar and Bhupendra Hooda are reaching Himachal today.
