Madras High Court Shocked by Inhumane Treatment at De-Addiction Center

Chennai, March 26 (HS): The Madras High Court has expressed shock over the lack of basic facilities and inhumane treatment of inmates at Corner Stone, a de-addiction center located in Thirumullaivayal, Chennai.#MadrasHC #DeAddictionCenter

Referring to the interim report submitted by amicus curiae advocate CK Chandrashekhar, who inspected the de-addiction center, the division bench of Justices MS Ramesh and Sundar Mohan stated, ?On perusing the statements made therein, we were surprised to learn certain things. There are very disturbing facts about the health and safety of prisoners.?

Directing Corner Stone officials to file a reply to the amicus curiae’s interim report, the bench adjourned the matter for further hearing till March 27.#InhumaneTreatment #CornerStone #Chennai
