The team from the Election Commission of India (ECI) is scheduled to arrive in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s capital, for a visit spanning three days, starting from February 29. On the evening of their arrival, the ECI team plans to engage with Uttar Pradesh’s political parties to gather their input concerning the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Following these discussions, the ECI team is set to deliberate on election preparations in a session that will see participation from senior figures of the Central Security Force and the UP Police. The subsequent day, March 1, will feature a divisional-level meeting aimed at briefing key electoral and police officials, including the District Election Officer and high-ranking police officials, on crucial electoral details.
On the final day of their visit, March 2, the ECI team will meet with representatives from various departments such as Narcotics, Excise, Income Tax, GST, and the Enforcement Directorate to discuss the identification and handling of election-related discrepancies. Concluding their visit, the team will convene with the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh before holding a press conference to communicate their findings and viewpoints.
