Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Arambag on March 1, as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This visit to the Hooghly district’s Arambag constituency is particularly significant given the BJP’s ambitious target of securing 35 seats in Bengal for the forthcoming national elections.
Arambag has emerged as a critical battleground for the BJP, which narrowly lost the Lok Sabha seat in the previous election but showed strong performance in the subsequent assembly elections by winning four assembly constituencies in the area.
The anticipation of Prime Minister Modi’s visit, ahead of the official election date announcement, is generating considerable interest. Biman Ghosh, the BJP’s organizational district president for Arambag and the MLA from Pursura, confirmed the Prime Minister’s plans to conduct a public rally. Efforts are underway by BJP MLAs to identify a suitable venue for the event, with potential locations including Kalipur Maidan, Garbari Maidan, or another spacious ground in the vicinity.
