Mumbai, 21 February (HS): Pune Police have succeeded in recovering MD drugs worth approximately ?4,000 crore in the last four days. Police have busted a big drugs racket and arrested three people associated with the smuggling business. Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised this action of the police.
Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the media on Wednesday that Pune Police busted such a big drug racket while investigating a small action in the drug case. The police are still investigating further in this matter. Fadnavis has congratulated Pune Police for this investigation.
On February 18, based on a tip-off, Pune Police raided Peth area and seized two kilos of MD. After investigation, the police seized 55 kg of MD worth more than ?100 crore from a warehouse in Vishrantwadi on February 19. Then on February 20, the police seized MD drugs worth ?1100 crore from a factory in Kurkumbha MIDC.
During these raids, the police arrested three people involved in drug smuggling. The three were identified as Haider Shaikh, Vaibhav Mane and Ajay Karosiya. Based on the information received after thorough interrogation of all of them, Pune Police conducted a raid in Delhi on February 20 and seized 400 kg MD worth ?8.5 crore. In this series, on February 21, in another operation, Pune Police in collaboration with Delhi Police seized 600 kg of MD worth more than ?1,200 crore.
Police investigation revealed that the drug was supplied from Pune to Mumbai and Delhi by hiding it in salt packets. In view of this, the police team is conducting raids in these cities also. The police are currently actively searching for two other people. Police said that this is the best quality MD seized so far. It is reported that the drugs manufactured in Kurkumbh were being sent abroad via Mumbai, Mira Bhayandar, Delhi, West Bengal and Nepal. After this information, Crime Branch teams have been sent to different states. It is expected that more drug smugglers will be arrested in this case very soon.
