Ayodhya, 16 Feb (HS): The top priest of Ayodhya’s Ram temple said today that it will be shuttered for an hour in the afternoon every day beginning Friday.
Given the high volume of devotees who visited the temple following the consecration event, the temple trust has extended the ‘darshan’ hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Since January 23, the temple is being opened up at 4 a.m. for morning rites. Devotees can receive ‘darshan’ after two hours, which lasts till 10 p.m.
So, to give the little god some rest, the trust has decided that the temple doors would be closed from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., allowing the deity to relax,” said Acharya Satyendra Das, chief priest. Before the consecration ceremony, ‘darshan’ was held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a two-hour break between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
