Anupriya Patel Appeals for Railway Underpass Construction on Bagahi-Gangpur Road

In a recent development, Union Minister of State and local MP, Anupriya Patel, has initiated a correspondence with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, advocating for the establishment of a railway underpass with adequate width along the Bagahi-Gangpur route, situated within the Purushottampur market area.

Patel’s letter emphasized that the Prayagraj-Pt. Deen Dayal Nagar railway stretch, part of the bustling Delhi-Howrah railway line, runs through this region. Notably, this area features the Purushottampur market towards its north and the revered Devi Maa Shivshankari Dham temple to its south, both flanked between the Kailahat and Narayanpur railway stations in Mirzapur district, approximately two kilometers apart.

The previous connectivity via a level crossing on NH 7 has been disrupted following the erection of a 3-4 km rail overbridge and the subsequent permanent closure of the level crossing, severing the link between Purushottampur market, Devi Maa Shivshankari Dham temple, and their surrounding villages.

According to Patel, the construction of the Rail Over Bridge has led to the isolation of numerous villages such as Pratappur, Ramjipur, Fattepur, and several others from the Purushottampur market, while similarly disconnecting many villages like Bela, Gangpur, and others from the Devi Maa Shivshankari Dham temple, a key religious site.
