Meerut, 1 Feb (HS): Police raided a house in Summer Garden outpost area of Lisadi Gate police station late on Wednesday night on the information of cow slaughter. On this, accused along with the locals launched a deadly attack on the police. Four policemen were injured in this attack. On information, police from several police stations reached the spot. The police recovered a huge quantity of meat and detained three people.
Summer Garden outpost police received information after midnight on Wednesday that Afzal, a resident of Summer Garden, was slaughtering cow in his house. On this, constables Sumit and Munendra went to Afzal’s house and started searching. On this, the women and men present in the house started misbehaving with the policemen. When policeman Sumit informed at the Summer Garden outpost, Head Constable Subhash and Constable Pawan also reached the spot. When the policemen tried to take possession of the meat found in the house, accused and other locals beat up the policemen fiercely. When the policemen ran to save their lives, stones were pelted at them from the rooftops. Due to which all four policemen were seriously injured. The injured policemen informed the higher authorities about the matter. SP City Ayush Vikram Singh and CO Kotwali Ashutosh Kumar reached the spot along with police forces from several police stations. Police recovered a huge quantity of meat from the house. Police took three people into custody from the spot. Meat samples were sent for testing on Thursday morning. Search is on for other people involved in the attack on policemen.
