UP Assembly pays respect to former House members who died lately

Lucknow, 28 Nov (HS): The Uttar Pradesh Assembly paid respect to Ashutosh Tandon, a BJP MLA from Lucknow (East), and nine previous members of the House who died lately on the opening day of the Winter session on Tuesday. Leader of the House and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Leader of the Opposition Akhilesh Yadav, and other members praised Ashutosh Tandon’s work and personality, saying he was a devoted leader. Tandon passed away on November 9th, at the age of 63.

Adityanath lauded his performance as minister of various departments from 2017 to 2022. Yadav commended Ashutosh Tandon, saying that he not only carried on his father, late Lalji Tandon’s, political tradition, but also reflected his personality.

“He was very popular among the people of Lucknow,” he went on to say. Suresh Kumar Khanna, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, paid tribute to Tandon. Tandon was recognized as the perfect MLA by Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana. As a gesture of respect, the full House conducted a two-minute silence.

Ram Niwas Verma of the Apna Dal (S), Rajpal Singh Baliyan of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Anil Tripathi of the NISHAD Party, Omprakash Rajbhar of the Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party, Aradhana Mishra of the Congress, Vinod Saroj of the Jansatta Dal, and Umashankar Singh of the BSP also paid floral tributes to Tandon. The House also remembered nine former MLAs who died lately.
