Hyderabad/Delhi, 30 November (H.S) : Voting for the 119-member Telangana Assembly began at 7 a.m. on Thursday. Three crore 26 lakh voters will decide the electoral fate of 2290 candidates contesting the elections. For this, 35,655 polling stations have been created.

Regarding this election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his X-post appealed to the voters to participate enthusiastically: ‘I appeal to my sisters and brothers of Telangana to vote in record numbers and strengthen the festival of democracy. I especially urge young and first-time voters to exercise their franchise.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared an X post while appealing to the people to take part in the voting for the Telangana Assembly elections: ‘Only a corruption-free and pro-poor government can work selflessly for the prosperity of Telangana… I appeal to the people of Telangana to come out in large numbers to form a government whose priority is empowerment and not appeasement.

Whereas union Minister and BJP State President G. Kishan Reddy requested everyone to vote and said that it is our responsibility and right, so go out and vote. It is the responsibility of all of you to bring a good government to Telangana.

Special assembly seats and famous faces of Telangana

Gajwel: State Chief Minister and ruling BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao is contesting from two seats this time, which includes the Gajwel assembly seat. The BJP’s’ Etela Rajender has been fielded against KCR for the Gajwel assembly seat in Siddipet district. Rajender has been a close associate of KCR for some time and has worked as Finance Minister and Health Minister in the KCR government. In 2021, he left BRS and joined the BJP.

Kamareddy: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has also contested from another seat, Kamareddy. Here, he faces competition from Telangana Congress President A. Revanth Reddy. He is a Congress MP from the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat. The BJP has appointed former District Council President K. Venkat Raman Reddy to be fielded.

Karimnagar: BJP MP B Sanjay Kumar from Karimnagar assembly seat of Karimnagar district of the state is contesting from here. In 2019, he was elected MP from the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat. In the assembly elections for this seat, he is facing competition from KCR cabinet minister Gangula Kamlakar and the Congress’s Purumalla Srinivas.

Jubilee Hills: Former MP and cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, a resident of Hyderabad, is the Congress candidate for the Jubilee Hills seat. Whereas the ruling BRS has fielded sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath for re-election. Lankala Deepak Reddy is the BJP candidate for this seat.
