Patna, 29 November (HS): There is an atmosphere of happiness in the entire country as all 41 labourers trapped in the under-construction Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, were rescued safely on Tuesday night on the 17th day.
Five labourers from Bihar were also trapped in this tunnel. Father of trapped labourer Deepak, Shatrughan Rai from Muzaffarpur district, told Hindusthan Samachar after talking to his son on Wednesday, “With folded hands, I salute the Uttarakhand government along with the police personnel, the central government, and the respected Prime Minister.”
Rai said that with tireless efforts, all the people trapped in the tunnel have been rescued safely. “We were very worried and had given up hope. The good initiative of the government and the hard work of all the people have given life to everyone. It is a great pleasure to talk to my son. Now I will not send him anywhere.”
The parents of Sonu Sah of Saran district say that their son has been born for the second time. They said, “We never slept peacefully in the hope of our son. We thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Uttarakhand government that our Lal has come out of the tunnel safely.”
Misbah Ahmed, father of Saba Ahmed, a worker from Bhojpur district, was monitoring the news on his mobile phone regarding the ongoing rescue operation. He said that he was eagerly waiting for his son to come out safely. “That auspicious moment has come. My son Saba is the only earning son in the family.”
The family members of Virendra Kisku of Banka district said that his wife was devastated after receiving information that her husband was trapped in the tunnel. But soon she composed herself and left for Uttarkashi with the determination to bring back her husband.
