ISRO launches LVM3-M3 One Web India-2 Mission to LEO

New Delhi, 26 March (HS): On Sunday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its newest mission, LVM3-M3 One Web India-2, into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

LVM3 launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on Sunday stands 43.5 metres tall and weighs 643 tonnes, lifted off from the second launch pad rocket port carrying OneWeb’s final instalment of 36 Gen1 satellites.

According to reports, the LVM3 is a three-stage rocket, with the first stage using liquid fuel, the two strap-on motors using solid fuel, the second using liquid fuel, and the third using cryogenic fuel.

Previously, the social media handle of OneWeb satellite communications firm, a partner in this mission, stated on Twitter, “Our golden ‘Hello World’ mission patch for this launch marks our commencement of worldwide coverage this year.” The importance of collaboration between the UK and Indian space sectors was also underlined by OneWeb.

“OneWebLaunch18 will see us launch 36 satellites with @isro and @NSIL India from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India,” OneWeb added. This operation represents OneWeb’s second satellite deployment from India, showing the UK and Indian space industries’ partnership.” On October 23, 2022, the ISRO launched 36 OneWeb satellites. It was the two organisations’ first satellite deployment partnership.
