Delhi, 21 December (H.S): On Thursday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla issued a warning to three Congress MPs who were protesting in the House against the suspension of over 100 opposition lawmakers earlier this week.
The three MPs, DK Suresh, Deepak Baij, and Nakul Nath, were demanding a discussion on the recent security breach of Parliament and a statement from union Home Minister Amit Shah. As the Question Hour began, the protesting MPs could be heard raising slogans, which led to the Speaker’s warning. He reminded them that MPs should not bring placards into the House and disrupt proceedings.
The Speaker also stated that he did not suspend any MP without reason and that some MPs even requested to be suspended. The incident that led to the suspension of 143 MPs occurred on December 13 when two men stormed into the Lok Sabha chamber and released smoke from canisters.
