Founder of Shankar Netralaya, Dr. SS Badrinath passes away

New Delhi, 21 November (HS): Dr SS Badrinath, founder of Shankara Nethralaya, India’s largest charitable eye hospital, died in Chennai on Tuesday. He was awarded Padma Bhushan for his remarkable service. Received many honors like Padmashree and Dr. BC Roy Award.

Tamil Nadu Congress Vice President Ram Suganthan shared the information about the demise of Dr. Badrinath on Twitter and paid tribute to him. Dr. Sengamedu Srinivas Badrinath, 83, established the Medical and Vision Research Foundation in Madras in 1978 with a group of philanthropists after studying abroad and doing extensive research. Shankar Nethralaya is a charitable non-profit eye hospital and unit of the Medical Research Foundation. According to the information, on an average 1200 eye related patients from every corner of the country reach here every day and 100 surgeries are performed every day.
