Delhi, 21 December (H.S) : Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge is set to hold a crucial meeting with top party leaders on Thursday to discuss the party’s strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and to also chalk out plans on seat sharing with like-minded parties of the INDIA bloc.
Among the leaders expected to attend the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting are Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former party chief Rahul Gandhi. This meeting comes after the party’s disappointing performance in the recently held assembly elections in five states. Despite the setback, the Congress has maintained that its morale remains high and is determined to bounce back in the upcoming national elections.
This CWC meeting will provide an opportunity for the party leadership to analyze the reasons for their defeat in the assembly elections and come up with a new agenda to take on the ruling BJP. Notably, the Congress’ focus on caste census failed to resonate with voters in states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.
The meeting will be held at the All India Congress Committee headquarters in New Delhi and will be crucial in shaping the party’s approach for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With the challenge of countering the BJP looming large, Sonia Gandhi has urged party MPs to turn their disappointment into positivity and work towards presenting a strong and alternative agenda for the general elections. This meeting holds great importance as it could determine the future direction of the Congress party and its attempts to regain power at the national level.
