New Delhi, 19 December (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the participants of the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2023 through video conferencing tonight at 9:30 PM. The Prime Minister will also address these participants. This information is given in the release of the PIB.
According to a PIB release, the Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of youth-led development. Under this, students are provided a platform to solve the critical problems of government ministries and departments, industries, and other organisations.
Launched in 2017, the Smart India Hackathon has gained immense popularity among young innovators. In the last five editions, many new solutions have emerged in various fields and have emerged as established startups. This year’s grand finale, which starts today, will end on December 23.
According to the release, the Smart India Hackathon 2023 received more than 50,000 ideas from 44,000 teams. This is almost seven times more than before. More than 12,000 participants and more than 2500 consultants and guides will participate in the grand finale, which will be held at 48 nodal centres across the country. A total of 1282 teams have been selected for the grand finale this year to provide solutions on various topics, including space technology, smart education, disaster management, robotics and drones, heritage, and culture.
These teams will provide solutions to 231 problem statements (176 software and 55 hardware) for 25 central ministries and 51 departments of state governments. The total prize of the Smart India Hackathon 2023 is more than two crore rupees. Each winning team will be awarded a cash prize of one lakh rupees per problem statement.
