Chennai, 18 December (HS): On Monday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting an appointment on December 19, to discuss the current situation of heavy rainfall and flooding in the southern parts of the state. The purpose of the meeting would be to deliberate on the extent of damage caused by the rains and discuss relief and rescue measures.
Additionally, Stalin also seeks to expedite the release of Central funds to aid in the recovery efforts for Chennai and its neighboring districts which have been significantly affected.
The four worst-hit districts – Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Tirunelveli – have experienced extremely heavy rainfall, with one location recording 95 centimeters of rain.
