Parliament Security Breach: Court to decide on Neelam's demand to give FIR

New Delhi, December 18 (HS): The Patiala House Court has reserved its decision while hearing the demand to give a copy of the FIR of Neelam, accused in the Parliament security breach case. The court will give its verdict on this matter on December 19.

During the hearing, Neelam’s lawyer said that it is our legal right to allow the lawyer and the family to meet. The family has the right to know what charges have been filed against him. For this, a copy of the FIR is necessary. On this, Delhi Police said that the matter is sensitive and related to terrorism. Therefore, it is important to maintain confidentiality.

Neelam’s lawyer said that we had asked for a copy of the FIR from the investigating officer. Then the investigating officer asked to file an application with the court. The law also gives the accused the right that his family can meet him. He was not even allowed to meet the lawyer. Neelam’s lawyer said that the family members have the right to know what allegations have been made against Neelam. All the family knows is that Neelam has been arrested.

It is noteworthy that on December 16, the court issued a notice to the Delhi Police. Neelam was arrested while raising slogans outside the Parliament. Neelam was arrested along with four others on December 13. The court had sent four accused, including Neelam, to police custody on December 14. Delhi Police has registered an FIR against these accused under UAPA.

On December 13, two accused jumped into the Lok Sabha from the visitor’s gallery of the Parliament. Within a short time, one of the accused, while walking over the desk, took out something from his shoes, and suddenly yellow smoke started coming out. There was chaos in the house after this incident.

Amidst the commotion and smoke, some MPs caught these youth and also beat them. After some time, Parliament security personnel controlled both the youths. Two people were also caught outside the Parliament who were shouting slogans and emitting yellow smoke.
