Hooghly, 14 December (HS): To provide relief to the people of Rishra from the long jam at railway gate number 3, the construction work of Rishra underpass started about one and a half years ago with the cooperation of Railways and Rishra Municipality. But the construction work of Rishra underpass has stopped for the last two months.
If sources are to be believed, the construction work of the underpass was stopped citing the rainy season this year. But now despite the arrival of winter season, the work has not started again. The demand for early completion of the work of Rishra underpass is now gaining momentum in Rishra.
Locals said that they want the construction work of this underpass to be completed as soon as possible.
In fact, once before also the construction of Rishra underpass was eclipsed when some people had gone to the court against the construction of the underpass. But later, after the instructions of the court, the construction work of this underpass started but stopped again in this rain.
Experts said that when any project is not completed on time and is delayed, the cost of the project also increases.
However, Kaushik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railway, told Hindusthan Samachar on Friday that the work of Rishra and other underpasses is being done as per the schedule of the Railways.
