Jaipur, 13 April (HS): The two-day meeting of the Women-20 Group will begin in Jaipur on Thursday. The meeting will be attended by 120 women from 18 G-20 countries and will discuss promoting gender equality, and economic empowerment of women globally. The meeting will also deliberate on leveraging the yet untapped potential of women to accelerate an inclusive and sustainable future.
The inaugural session of the meeting will be held at 9:30 am today. There will be three sessions on the first day.
Mahila-20 President Dr Sandhya Purecha told that in the inaugural session, Dr Shamika Ravi, Member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, Indivar Pandey, Secretary, Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, Usha Sharma, Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan, G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant will address.
The first day will also see the launch of Mahila-20 Innovations, Mission Digital Women, financial and digital literacy and skilling programmes. Apart from this, an art workshop and cultural evening will be organized by the Rajasthan Tourism Department.
It is noteworthy that Women-20 (W-20) is the official group of G-20 which was established in 2015 under the presidency of Turkey for gender equality. Its primary objective is women’s empowerment, advocating women’s rights and creating a platform for them to express their opinion with equality.
The theme of the meeting to be held in Jaipur is- ‘Leveraging the untapped potential of women to accelerate inclusive growth and a sustainable future led by women’.
