Basirhat, 11 December (HS): Two elderly persons were killed in two separate road accidents on Basanti Highway in Basirhat in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Monday.
According to police, the first incident took place in Christian Para More area. The deceased was identified as Ajay Kumar Paik (60). Ajay was crossing the road on Monday morning when a speeding four-wheeler going towards Malancha hit him. Ajay collapsed on the spot. Doctors declared him dead on arrival at the hospital.
The second incident took place in Kushangra area of Minakha Gram Panchayat. Sixty year old Nitai Das was crossing the road there. A speeding four-wheeler going to Ghatakpur hit him. Nitai Das died in this incident. However, the police have sent both the dead bodies to Basirhat District Hospital for post-mortem and have started investigating the case.
