Delhi, 11 December (HS): The highly anticipated verdict by the Supreme Court on the batch of petitions challenging the abrogation of Article 370 is set to be delivered on Monday. The five-judge Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, will announce their decision after a 16-day hearing that ended on September 5.
The bench, which also includes Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, B R Gavai, and Surya Kant, heard arguments from both sides. The Attorney General and Solicitor General represented the Centre while senior advocates like Harish Salve and V Giri stood in defence of the abrogation. On the other hand, senior advocates Kapil Sibal, Gopal Subramanium, and others argued on behalf of the petitioners.
The outcome of this verdict will hold significant implications for the future of Article 370 and its impact on Jammu and Kashmir.
