Delhi, 11 December (H.S): The newly-elected MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh are set to meet on Monday to elect the leader of the legislative party. The BJP had emerged victorious in the November 17 polls, winning a total of 163 out of the 230 seats in the assembly, leaving the Congress far behind with only 66 seats.
While the party did not project a CM face during its campaign, the BJP relied on the popularity and mass appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 pm on Monday and it is expected that the name of the CM candidate will be announced by 7pm, according to one MLA.
The party’s central observers, including Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, OBC Morcha head K Laxman, and secretary Asha Lakra, are expected to arrive in Madhya Pradesh at 11 am to oversee the proceedings.
This important meeting will determine the future leadership of Madhya Pradesh and is eagerly awaited by citizens and political observers alike.
