Jammu, 10 December (HS): Ravinder Raina, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), declared on Sunday that those who kill innocent people are enemies not only of Kashmiris but also of humanity as a whole.
He made these remarks while speaking to the media after visiting the residence of Inspector Masroor Ali, who succumbed to injuries at AIIMS, Delhi, following a militant attack at Eidgah last month in which he was grievously injured.
He described the killing as unfortunate, stating: ?He (Masroor) was a capable youngster who always worked for the betterment of the people; he cared for the poor and downtrodden and was well-known for it in the police department.?
Raina asserted that those responsible for such acts do not want people to thrive in Kashmir. ?They are enemies of Kashmir and humanity. How long will this continue? It is totally unacceptable,? he said.
Expressing pain over Masroor?s demise, Raina termed his killing as sheer injustice. ?It pains me to see that he is no longer with us; once again the blood of a Kashmiri has been spilled; once again we have seen the murder of an innocent. It is nothing but injustice,? he added.
Reiterating Masroor?s killing as an assault on humanity, Raina emphasized that the bloodshed must end.
?He had not wronged anyone; he was working honestly within the department and in the neighborhood; he was known for it everywhere. This bloodbath must end; those who killed him are the real enemies of peace.?
Meanwhile, the Peoples? Democratic Party (PDP) Chief and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, also visited the residence of the slain cop, where she met his family members and offered condolences.
On her way out, she briefly spoke to the media, expressing concern that killings have become commonplace, and the government seems indifferent.
?This is the order of the day, and every day youngsters are killed. The Government is hardly bothered about it, stating there is no collateral damage; this is a huge loss for the people of Kashmir,? she said.
