Lucknow, 9 Nov (HS): The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has started efforts to make the Geographical Information System (GIS) of the state more robust and ready. For this, a detailed action plan has been made, through which the work of integrated software development of more than 17 processes like survey, digitalization and mapping has started in Uttar Pradesh.
In this direction, the responsibility of software development has been entrusted to Shritron India Limited (SIL), which has directed its empaneled software companies to apply for software development through Request for Proposal. It is noteworthy that Shritron India Limited is functioning as a public sector ISO 9001:2008 company under the administrative control of the Department of Information Technology and Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Shreetron India Limited also acts as the ‘nodal agency’ for completing IT & ITES projects for various government agencies of the state such as implementation of hardware, networking, software and IT solutions, IT training and other related works.
The integrated software will be capable of completing more than 17 processes. A spokesperson of the state government said that the work of specific integrated software development has been entrusted to Shreetron India Limited, which will be equipped with many features. It is believed that this software, being developed to make the geographical information system of the state more convenient and easier, will be capable of completing more than 17 processes like survey, digitalization and mapping. In terms of GIS survey, this software will compile data of electric poles, roads, hand pumps, submersible pumps, wells, government establishments, bus stands and railway stations etc. At the same time, under the Municipal Council, it will be able to complete the processes like determination of houses, blocks and urban boundaries and door to door property survey. Apart from this, in the form of online property detail software, it will be capable of filling primary date on forms, storing entered data properly, compiling and searching reports. Apart from this, satellite imaging will also be used in this software which will help in accessing the mapping process in real time. Shritron is also the state nodal agency for Aadhaar authentication services. Shritron India Limited (SIL) was incorporated on 1 February 1979, the spokesperson said. Uptron was incorporated as a company under the Companies Act 1956 with the name of Shreetronics Limited. Later on 24 April 1984, the name of the company was changed to Shreetron India Limited. He informed that Sritron India Limited also acts as the State Nodal Agency for Aadhaar Authentication Services (AUA/KUA) for DBT and other projects (where Aadhaar authentication is required).
