What Is The Situation ? Maharashtra Schools Adapt NEP 2024-25; Vidarbha Alters Schedule for Summer

Mumbai, 7 June (HS): The schools in the Vidarbha region will reopen on July 1 and in other regions on June 15. The decision has been taken owing to the hot summer in Vidarbha region. The new National Education Policy is being enforced from the academic session 2024-25. The NEP will apply to students up to standard VIII. The morning schools up to Standard IV will not be started before 9 am. The School Education Department has taken the decisions.

Under the NEP the students will not be required to carry school bags on Saturdays. They will be engaged in other activities like visits to historical or important tourist places, Scout and Guide, Yoga, sports etc. Several changes have been made keeping in mind children’s physical and mental development. Efforts are being made to reduce pressure on children, at least at the primary school level. The NEP will be enforced gradually for higher classes and is expected to reach the junior college level (Std XI and XII) by the academic session 2027-28.
