Lucknow, 8 April (HS): The Uttar Pradesh government would spend Rs 200 crore on sports in the next three months, according to an official statement released on Saturday. “With this sum, the government, in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Sports Development Fund, will create and innovate sports infrastructure facilities in the state,” the statement stated. Over these three months, the government also intends to create sports infrastructure in the state with private involvement. The Sports Department has provided an action plan for spending the allocated funds on new demand schemes over the next three months. According to the Sports Department’s action plan, the Uttar Pradesh Sports Development Fund would be established between April and June with a budget of Rs 25 crore.
“A policy will be developed and submitted to the government for approval. After the policy is approved, the necessary monies will be sanctioned after consultation with the Finance Department in accordance with the issued rules,” it stated. The Sports Development Fund will assist the state’s best athletes significantly.
“They will be able to acquire international-standard equipment and will have the opportunity to practise and perform overseas. In addition, athletes will be allowed to choose international trainers, physiotherapists, and psychologists. During these three months, the Yogi government and the Sports Department will prioritise the development of the state’s sports infrastructure,” according to the statement.
A budget of Rs 116.72 crore is suggested for new structures in several districts, as well as improvements to existing facilities. The working organisation will be decided based on the proposal submitted by the departmental executives, according to this. Following an examination of the estimate given by the nominated executive body, further action will be taken. Moreover, before obtaining financial permission for the expected cost, the Finance Department’s opinion will be requested. A budget allocation of Rs 50 crore is also recommended for the state’s building of sports facilities with private involvement.
Under this, a policy will be developed and approved by the appropriate authorities. Financial permission will be granted based on the Finance Department’s recommendation. The government would also award a grant of Rs 1.50 crore to Sports College, Fatehpur.
