Jaipur/Delhi, 6 December (H.S):The murder of Rajput Karni Sena President Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in his Jaipur home has sparked a political storm in Rajasthan. Supporters of Gogamedi blocked the Shipra Path road outside the hospital where he was rushed after being shot by unidentified criminals.
They demanded immediate action to arrest the culprits. The incident comes just two days after the Congress lost to the BJP in the state assembly election, leading to speculation that it was an act of revenge by the Congress. The BJP has accused the Congress of ignoring the security threat to Gogamedi, as revealed by a video shared by their national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala.
The murder, caught on CCTV cameras, shows three attackers firing bullets into Gogamedi’s house and engaging in a crossfire with his security guards. One of the attackers was killed in the process while one of Gogamedi’s guards sustained injuries. Rajasthan Police has identified the Rohit Godara gang as responsible for the murder, with alleged associations with other notorious gangs like Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi. Gogamedi’s supporters have threatened a statewide shutdown if prompt action is not taken by the authorities.
The incident has been condemned by all major political leaders, including Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot of the Congress and Rajyavardhan Rathore of the BJP.
