Delhi, 06 December (H.S): The Delhi High Court announced on Wednesday that it will be hearing a plea by alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar who is seeking to have a case lodged against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) quashed. The case pertains to an incident in 2017.
In the Election Commission bribery matter, in which Sukesh Chandrasekhar is accused of taking money from former AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran to secure the party’s ‘two leaves’ symbol for the Sasikala faction in a by-poll in Tamil Nadu.
The matter was brought before Justice Amit Sharma who, after hearing the arguments, transferred it to a bench that deals with cases involving legislators.
Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s plea seeks the quashing of the Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and prosecution complaint (charge sheet) in the money laundering case, as well as a direction to the trial court to halt proceedings on the criminal case against him. This development highlights the ongoing legal battle surrounding the 2017 Election Commission bribery scandal and Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s alleged involvement in it.
