Delhi, 06 December (H.S): union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, emphasizing the significance of the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2023.
He stated that these Bills will finally bring justice to those who have been denied their rights for the past 70 years. Shah stressed that the purpose of these Bills is to provide rights and dignity to those who have been neglected, insulted and treated unjustly. He further added that it is the responsibility of any society to uplift those who have been marginalized, as per the principles of the Indian Constitution.
However, he also highlighted the importance of giving rights respectfully, rather than just in a tokenistic way. This is why he believes that instead of simply renaming a disadvantaged category to Other Backward Class (OBC), it is crucial to ensure that their respect is not diminished in any way.
The Home Minister’s remarks emphasize the government’s commitment towards bringing equality and justice to all citizens of Jammu and Kashmir and ensuring that their fundamental rights are upheld with dignity.
