Varanasi, 5 Dec (HS): The birth anniversary (Bhairavashtami) of Kotwal Baba Kalbhairav of Kashi is being celebrated in a joyous atmosphere on Tuesday in the city of Kashipuradhipati Baba Vishwanath. A huge crowd of devotees is gathering in the darbaar (court) to have a glimpse of the special tableau of Baba.
From morning till afternoon the youth kept queuing up for darshan and worship in the court. On Bhairavashtami, Baba’s idol was specially decorated and liquor was offered in Kalbhairav temple. In the afternoon, the temple management along with Baba’s devotees distributed Prasad among the devotees by offering 1008 liters of saffron milk, 108 kg laddus, 1008 packets of Panchmeva to Baba.
According to the priests of the temple, offering milk mixed with saffron to Baba prevents vision defects in life. New energy is found in life. Offering Panchmeva brings prosperity. Offering laddus gives a feeling of immense peace and happiness.
On behalf of the Kaal Bhairav Temple family, Rohit Yogeshwar, Mohit Yogeshwar, Ashish Kumar, Dharmendra Nath Yogi, Prakash Nath supported priest Santosh, priest Ramesh, Mahant and patron Kailash Nath Dubey, Surendra Dubey, Mahendra Nath Dubey etc. in offering and distributing Prasad. Everyone together worshiped Kaal Bhairav and wished well for the entire nation.
Baba’s birth anniversary is being celebrated in all the Bhairav temples. It is noteworthy that every year Kaal Bhairav Jayanti is celebrated on the Ashtami Tithi of Margashirsha Krishna Paksha. It is believed that Lord Kaal Bhairav was born on this date. Every person living in Kashi has to take permission from Baba Kaal Bhairav to live here. It is believed that Lord Shiva had appointed him here.
