Delhi, 5 December (HS): Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode, nephew of the infamous leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, passed away in Pakistan on December 2, according to sources. It is reported that Rode suffered a heart attack. His last rites were performed in secrecy in Pakistan, following Sikh customs and traditions.
Bhindranwale was a prominent figure in the Khalistan movement and Rode was known to be involved in terrorist activities against India, under the influence of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.
In October, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a raid and confiscated Rode’s properties, as he was being investigated for his participation in six terror-related cases between 2021 and 2023.
Rode was the leader of the banned outfit International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) and had been designated as a terrorist by the Indian government. His death marks the end of a notorious figure in the Khalistan movement and brings closure to some of the cases against him.
