Lucknow, 4 April (HS): According to a survey conducted by the UP relief commissioner’s office, ten districts in Uttar Pradesh have suffered significant crop loss as a result of unseasonal rain. Fatehpur, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Sitapur, Aligarh, Moradabad, Sonbhadra, Hamirpur, Sambhal, and Unnao are among the districts impacted. On March 31 and April 2, these districts were struck by hail and rain. Almost one lakh farmers were found to have been harmed by unseasonal rain in 11 districts in a survey performed from March 15 to date. According to official data, 35,480.52 hectares of agricultural land were severely damaged, and 58.59 crores will be paid to affected farmers.
At least 1,343 hectares of land belonging to 5,026 Fatehpur farmers, 2804 hectares of land belonging to 4,738 Agra farmers, and 559 hectares of land belonging to 3,090 Bareilly farmers have been damaged.
Similarly, 11,265 farmers in Chandauli with 2,986 hectares of land, 396 farmers in Hamirpur with 271 hectares of land, 205 farmers in Jhansi with 145 hectares of land, and 7,380 farmers in Lalitpur with 6,216 hectares of land have been impacted. Crop losses affected at least 9,252 farmers with 4,448 hectares in Prayagraj. Due to western disturbances, Uttar Pradesh has had unseasonal rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and strong wind during the previous two weeks.
