People fearful, concerned after one-sided outcome of Assembly polls: Mayawati

Lucknow, 4 Dec (HS): BSP president Mayawati said one-sided results in four states have made people scared, surprised, and anxious as she held a meeting of her party members to discuss the 2024 Lok Sabha elections strategy.

Mayawati also stated in a series of postings on X that there was a feeling during the election campaign in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana that these states will see a tough battle. However, she stated that the outcomes were radically different. In the results revealed on Sunday, the BJP won the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, handing a huge defeat to the Congress, which managed to reclaim power in Telangana. On December 10, she will hold another meeting here.

“It is natural for everyone to be sceptical, surprised, and concerned when the results of the four state assembly elections were lopsided. Given the overall spirit of the elections, such an unusual result is alarming for the people and difficult to accept,” Mayawati remarked on X.

“Throughout the election, the atmosphere was one of a neck-and-neck battle. However, the election outcome being wholly different and one-sided is such a strange topic that it requires significant thought and resolution. A terrible ‘mistake’ in perceiving people’s moods has emerged as a fresh issue of concern. All people of BSP fought this election with full strength,” she remarked, urging her party members not to be dismayed by the outcome.

They should not be discouraged by this outcome and should continue to strive forward by drawing inspiration from the life and efforts of Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

An all-India conference of the party will be held in Lucknow on December 10 to examine the election’s ground report and to plan for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, according to Mayawati. “The Ambedkarite movement will never lose the courage to move forward,” stressed the BSP president.
