Delhi, 4 December (HS):The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee’s report on the cash-for-query case involving Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra is expected to be presented in Parliament on Monday. The committee, which met on November 9, saw six members vote in favor of Moitra’s expulsion, while four members submitted dissent notes.
This recommendation for expulsion will now need to be approved by the House during the Winter Session of Parliament, which also begins on Monday. Moitra’s alleged involvement in a bribery scandal has sparked controversy and raised questions about ethical conduct among parliamentarians.
The tabling of this report marks a crucial step towards addressing such issues and upholding the integrity of the legislative process. It remains to be seen how the House will respond to the committee’s recommendation and what consequences it may have for Moitra and her political career.
