New Delhi, 04 December (HS): Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) congregated at the party headquarters after the victory in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It is believed that meetings will be held throughout the day today to discuss the names of the Chief Ministers of these states.
BJP President JP Nadda has called a meeting in the evening in which mainly the names of the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh could be decided along with the names of observers from these states. This observer will coordinate with the legislative party.
According to sources, Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, MP from Alwar seat and Baba Balak Nath, who won from Tijara Assembly seat, have been called to Delhi to discuss the name of Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
It is noteworthy that BJP did not contest the assembly elections with any chief ministerial face in these states. These elections were fought under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party got a bumper victory. BJP bagged 115 seats in Rajasthan.
Prominent in the race for the top slot in Rajasthan are Vasundhara Raje, Diya Kumari, Baba Balaknath, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Meghwal, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and State President CP Joshi. It is believed that the Prime Minister will take a decision in this regard in view of the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections.
The strong contenders for the post of Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh include Shivraj Singh Chauhan along with union Ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel and Kailash Vijayvargiya.
The BJP can bring a new face in Chhattisgarh though former Chief Minister Raman Singh is also in the race to take up the reigns agains.
