New Delhi, 02 December (HS): The second instrument of the Solar Wind Particle Experiment payload, Aditya-L1, the first space-based observatory to study the Sun, has started functioning. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) shared this information on social media platforms on Saturday morning.
It said the Solar Wind Ion Spectrometer (SWIS), the second instrument aboard the Solar Wind Particle Experiment (ASPEX) payload, is now operational. The histogram shows the energy variations in proton and alpha particle counts captured by SWIS over the past two days.
Recently, ISRO Chairman S. Somnath said that the ‘Aditya L1’ spacecraft, launched under India’s first space mission to study the Sun, is nearing its final stage, and the process of entering the L1 point will be completed on January 7, 2024. expected to be completed by The spacecraft will be placed in a halo orbit around the Lagrangian point ?L1? after travelling about 15 lakh kilometres from Earth in 125 days.
