Modi to present India's views on environmental protection during COP-28

Dubai, 01 Dec (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Dubai on Thursday night to participate in the 28th session of the Conference of Parties (COP-28). Modi will attend the summit on global climatic changes and will present India?s views during the next three sessions.

Modi was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival, by the Indian community in UAE. Modi is likely to hold bilateral meetings with representatives of eight different countries. Prior to departure he said that India is in favour of sharing technology with developing nations on issues related to environmental protection. He expressed hope that the agreements reached during the G-20 summit on environment protection will be promoted during the COP-28 summit

Earlier Modi participated in summits at Paris (2015) and Glasgow, Britain (2021)and moved important resolutions. In Glasgow, he announced that efforts will be made to make India carbon-neutral by the year 2070. The decisions taken during the Paris summit should be followed. Funds for the developing nations to work on environment protection projects should be raised, he said.
