2 on-duty railway workers killed, another injured after being hit by train in UP

Barabanki, 1 Dec (HS): Police reported on Friday that two railway workmen were killed and another was seriously injured after being hit by an approaching train while replacing a defective signal at Jahangirabad railway station here. According to them, the incident occurred on Thursday night at the Gonda-Barabanki railway segment.

Police claimed Arvind Kumar (28), Tala Soren aka Kallu (45), and Devi Prasad (30) were repairing a defect in one of the signal poles when two trains — Cochin Express and Barauni Express — appeared on both the up and down tracks. The 12512 Cochin Express struck them. While Kumar died on the scene, Soren died later from his injuries, and Prasad was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to authorities.

According to Government Railway Police station in-charge Dharmendra Kumar, Kumar was assigned as an electrician at Jahangirabad railway station, Soren was a signal assistant, and Prasad was a contractual employee of the Railways. Kumar stated that the incident is being probed.
