Imphal (Manipur), December, 01 (HS): The Punjab National Bank (PNB) in Manipur’s Ukhrul town was robbed of ?18.85 crore. According to the reliable sources, the robbery took place last night at the bank’s branch located in Vulland One, the main market of Ukhrul. About ten unidentified masked men armed with sophisticated weapons carried out the attack.
Punjab National Bank, formerly known as United Bank of India, recently underwent conversion into PNB. The incident took place in an alarming manner, causing a lot of shock to both the bank personnel and the security forces.
Reports indicate that at the time of the robbery, around eight personnel of the 6th Manipur Rifles were probably present at the bank for security measures. However, the attackers managed to overpower the security apparatus and carry out the loot.
