Delhi, 29 March (H.S): The Mahagathbandhan, one of the main opposition coalitions in Bihar, made an important announcement on Friday. The coalition revealed that its largest constituent, RJD, will be contesting in 26 out of the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats.#Mahagathbandhan #BiharLSSeats #RJD
The Congress will contest in nine seats, while CPI(ML) will have three seats and CPI and CPI(M) will have one each. This announcement caused some tension within the coalition as Congress had to give up the Purnea Lok Sabha seat, which recent entrant Pappu Yadav was hoping to contest after receiving assurance from Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.#Congress #SeatAllocation #CoalitionTension
However, the seat will now be contested by RJD, who recently gave the ticket to JD(U) turncoat Bima Bharti. The announcement of seat-sharing comes after the first phase of Lok Sabha polls ended, where RJD has fielded candidates in all four seats going to polls. However, this move has been resented by allies as a “unilateral decision”.#SeatSharing #LokSabhaPolls #CoalitionUnity
In the absence of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, RJD national spokesman and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha announced that names of candidates for remaining seats will be announced soon. The presence of state Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh and other allies at the press conference conveyed a message of unity within the coalition as Jha confidently stated, “We have arrived at a unanimous decision and we will win”.
