Mandi/Delhi, 29 March (H.S): Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut kicked off her Lok Sabha election campaign in Mandi constituency on Friday with a grand roadshow that saw a huge turnout of supporters.
The four-time National Award winner, who was born in Mandi’s Bhambla town, was welcomed by BJP workers with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and showered with flowers as she began her roadshow. Ranaut, who has been vocal about her admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hailed him with the same slogan and also praised other BJP leaders.#BJP #JaiShriRam #NarendraModi
She reiterated that the party’s main agenda is development and they will leave no stone unturned to win the elections under Modi’s guidance. This was Ranaut’s first public appearance in her constituency after she was given the BJP ticket on March 24, fulfilling her earlier statement of being open to contesting from Mandi if offered a ticket.The seat is currently held by Congress leader Pratibha Singh, but after the announcement of Ranaut’s name, she has left the decision to contest on the Congress High Command.
The elections for four Lok Sabha seats and six assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh will take place on June 1, and while the BJP has announced its candidates, the Congress is yet to do so.
