What Happened ? Fallen Soldier Honored with Posthumous President’s Police Medal
Sultanpur, 28 May (HS): Border Security Force sub-inspector Mahendra Yadav, who took on the Pakistan Army, was posthumously awarded the President’s Police Medal after eight years. The brave jawan’s mother was awarded the Police Medal at the investiture ceremony of the Border Security Force held on May 24 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. After returning with the honour, the brave soldier’s mother Maryadi Devi told on Tuesday that she was awarded the President’s Police Medal at the investiture ceremony. “I am proud to be honored for my son’s sacrifice for the country, “she added.
Mahendra Yadav, 23, son of Ramshabd Yadav of Malikpur Nonra village of Kadipur tehsil, was martyred in retaliation against Pakistani terrorists on the night of 07 August 2016. The brave soldier was given a final farewell with full state honours in his native village, where his family members have constructed a martyr’s memorial and installed a life-size statue of Mahendra Yadav
Heroic Stand of Mahendra Yadav Against Terrorists Honored
According to a letter from the Border Security Force, on the intervening night of 7-8 August 2016, a group of 8-10 terrorists, taking advantage of the bad weather, crossed the Line of Control from Pakistan and came to the water point of FDL Bhuriwala and at around 5.45 pm the terrorists opened fire with automatic weapons on the sentries present in the front on duty. Border Security Force personnel retaliated. During this time, Sub Inspector Mahendra Yadav attained martyrdom after being shot. Martyr Mahendra Yadav was the third among five brothers, the eldest brother Narendra Yadav does a private job in Rajasthan. Second brother Surendra and fourth brother Virendra Yadav do farming in the village. Jitendra Yadav, the fifth youngest brother, has been appointed as a constable in BSF on the recommendation of the Defense Ministry.
