New Delhi, March 26 (HS): Supreme Court’s Bharatiya Bhasha Abhiyan Head Punit Sheoran has hailed the Court’s decision to accept a petition in an Indian language without requiring an English translation. The Court’s acceptance came on March 22 in the criminal appeal of Kapil Sao vs. State of Bihar and others.
Sheoran expressed delight at this development, highlighting that the petitioner was permitted to present the petition in person, prepared by authorized researcher NANOR Advocate Indradev Prasad with the Central Jail Superintendent’s approval. #SupremeCourt #IndianLanguages
Initially, the Registrar’s office had hesitated to accept the petition presented in an Indian language on March 21. However, following requests from the Supreme Court Advocates on Record Association, the Supreme Court Bar Association, and the Supreme Court Unit of Delhi Province of Bharatiya Bhasha Abhiyan, the Registrar provided details of petitions presented in Indian languages.
