Government once again appeals for talks with protesting farmers

Delhi, 21 February (HS): union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Arjun Munda has appealed to the farmers to come forward for the fifth round of talks. In a statement, the minister said the government wants a resolution to the matter. They request the farmers to maintain peace.

Munda said in a statement on Wednesday that the government is ready to discuss all issues like demand for minimum support price (MSP), crop diversification and stubble issue. A solution can be found only through dialogue. They again invite farmer leaders for discussion.

It is noteworthy that the fourth round of talks between the central government and the farmers failed. Farm organisations have refused to accept the proposals given by the government and have threatened to intensify the protest. The farmers of Punjab faction who are having darshan have also got the support of United Kisan Morcha. Farmer organizations do not want to make any compromise on the issue of MSP.
